I would tell them you can’t get to the design without the brand alignment workshop, it is such a crucial part to the process. It’s gonna open up new ideas, it’s gonna uncover a lot of things that they themselves haven’t even thought about, and it’s gonna influence design in ways that they haven’t thought of. I don’t see it as an optional part to the process, I’d see it as a major key part that they should be all in for.

The kinds of questions we were being asked to think about really shaped the final project in ways that made it more successful. I didn’t understand at the time that that process (the brand alignment) was critical to then the design process and it was critical to our project.
An ethos of this program is collaboration and partnership. I feel that Tink Tank struck just the right tone and balance with [the artists] so they can really express their vision, but at the same time, driving a process that got them to where it would be the most impactful and successful.
In terms of the breadth of the work, the capacity, the idea generation, the assets being created—it never felt like just two people. I think I came into this with a pretty narrow conception of what was possible, yet Tink Tank always exceeded all expectation. I could never have imagined that we would have those designs that we had.
